Maryland Citation Deadline Calculator
Pick your citation type and enter the date printed on your ticket. We'll estimate when payment or your hearing request is due.
Other citation types (not computed)
These don't have a single uniform deadline, so we don't compute them here. Always check your citation and the issuing agency.
Toll violation (MDTA Video Toll)
MDTA toll violations follow an escalating fee schedule:
- Initial Notice of Toll Due — base toll only
- 30 days after notice — toll + civil penalty added
- 60+ days — additional penalties
- Eventually referred to Central Collections Unit (CCU)
Check your Notice of Toll Due for specific deadlines. Pay at driveezmd.com.
Parking citations
Parking ticket deadlines vary by city or county. Most use a 30-day window before late fees apply, but check your specific citation. Common Maryland parking jurisdictions: Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Annapolis, Ocean City, College Park, and others.
Frequently asked
What if I never received my citation in the mail?
For camera citations, you have the right to request a hearing or contest. Maryland courts can't convict you on a citation you didn't receive — but you need to act once you DO learn about it. Contact the issuing agency immediately.
What happens if I miss my deadline?
For camera citations: late fees (typically $25), eventual collections referral, possible MVA flag preventing vehicle registration renewal. Camera tickets don't add MVA points, so they don't affect your driving record.
For court traffic citations (officer-issued): more serious. Can result in a default conviction, fines, and potential license suspension. Always respond within 30 days, even just to elect a hearing.
Is the deadline calculated from the violation date or the citation date?
The deadline runs from the date of mailingprinted on the citation — NOT the violation date. Camera citations are mailed days or weeks after the violation. Look for the "date issued" or "date mailed" field on your citation, not the "date of violation."
Need to mail a court form?
If you need to request a hearing (DR-049O for lost citations), payment plan (DCA-131 District Court or CC-088 Circuit Court), we can mail your completed form for $7.
